Delete Your Account
1. Delete From Inside the App
This works the same way on the web app and the mobile app:
- Open BorderLog
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to the Data section
- Tap Delete account
- Confirm when prompted
Your trips, settings, and all other data are removed from the device immediately, and your cloud account is scheduled for permanent deletion (see the 30-day grace period below).
2. You Have 30 Days to Change Your Mind
Deleting your account starts a 30-day grace period. During that window your cloud data still exists. If you sign back in before it ends, the app tells you the deletion is still scheduled and asks what you want to do — keep your account, which cancels the deletion, or continue with deletion, which leaves it scheduled and signs you straight back out. Signing in never reverses a deletion without asking you first.
After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed by us or by you. Note that the data on the device you deleted from is erased right away, not after 30 days. Keeping your account restores your trips from the cloud copy if you're on Premium; on the free plan the cloud copy is kept but restoring it to a device is a Premium feature, so the app starts empty.
3. Delete By Email Instead
If you can't access the app — you've uninstalled it, lost the device, or can't sign in — email legal@borderlog.ca from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it.
We will confirm the request and respond within 30 days, as required under PIPEDA. We may need to verify that you control the account's email address before we act.
4. What Gets Deleted
Permanently erased from our servers:
- Your account and login credentials
- Your email address and display name
- Your permanent residency date, PR card expiry, and tracking mode
- Every trip record — departure and return dates, crossings, destinations, and notes
- Manual day entries and residence periods
- All app preferences stored on your account
Nothing is kept in an archived or anonymised form on our side. We do not retain a copy of your travel history after deletion.
5. What We Cannot Delete
If you purchased the one-time Premium upgrade, the record of that purchase is held by Apple, Google Play, or RevenueCat (our payment processor) — not by us. We have no ability to delete their transaction records, and they are required to retain them for tax and financial-reporting purposes. Those records contain the transaction, not your travel data.
Deleting your BorderLog account does not request a refund. Refund requests go through the store you purchased from.
6. If You Never Created an Account
BorderLog can be used anonymously, without signing up. If you never created an account, your data was only ever stored on your device — we never received it and have nothing to delete. Uninstalling the app removes it permanently.
